The Wolf Watershed Educational Project (WWEP) was formed to educate and organize the public around the issue of sulfide mining in Wisconsin, and particularly Rio Algom's proposed Crandon mine. These are speakers on the list for the 1996 Upriver Tour (along the Wolf and Wisconsin Rivers) and the 1997 Circle Tour (around the edge of the state). The tour events usually included one speaker from each section--representing environmentalists (or union members), Native Americans, and sportfishing groups/local residents--to reflect the breadth and diversity of the movement. This list is for media, churches, schools, and civic groups, so they can directly invite speakers or their comments. (Important note: very few people near the proposed mine sites have e-mail, but their insights and first-hand experiences are most valuable--please take the extra time to phone them.) |
